Hunting with the cheetah is an ancient and venerable tradition. This animal, quintessence of beauty and elegance, used to be in many cultures a powerful symbol of the highest social status. The history of the relationship between human and this unique felid is very long. Ancient Egyptians often tamed this animal and trained it for hunting. During the Classical Antiquity this practice spread with the Romans all over the Mediterranean world. In the East, it was cultivated by the Persians and passed on to India, where cheetah continued to be used for hunting till the 20th century. Nowadays the tradition still exist in some wealthy Arabic countries, like Qatar and UAE. Even if today it may seem controversial to many people, we should remember that cheetah didn't become endangered species because of those who tamed and trained it, but because of disrespect towards its natural habitats and shrinking of the world where the cheetahs used to live.
